Senior Associate
Barrister Jean-Aimé Kounga Kaptue is a Senior Associate at The Abeng Law Firm and a member of the Cameroon Bar. He has a longstanding relationship with the Firm, having worked with it at different stages over a period spanning more than two decades. This institutional knowledge complements his legal practice and gives him a practical understanding of the Firm's clients, standards and approach to complex assignments.
He advises companies, financial institutions and investors on corporate transactions, banking and finance, capital-markets matters and high-stakes commercial disputes within the OHADA and CEMAC legal environment.
His transactional work spans company formation and governance, mergers and acquisitions, commercial contracts, financing arrangements, securities transactions and the dematerialisation of securities. He also represents and assists clients in debt recovery, OHADA enforcement proceedings, arbitration and commercial litigation. This combination of advisory and contentious experience enables him to anticipate enforcement and dispute risks while structuring transactions and to pursue effective remedies when disputes arise.
Jean-Aimé holds a postgraduate degree in Business Legal Practice, a Master's degree in Private Business Law and a degree in Private Law and Criminal Sciences from the University of Douala. He has contributed to the World Bank's Doing Business project and has written on the legal and tax treatment of expatriate employees in Cameroon.
